Sustainability, is a word so often used and yet I think not everyone truly knows what it means. We were thinking about sustainability when we designed Lifelia Coffins, why is it important to be sustainable in what we do, and here's what we thought:
Environmental protection - sustainability aims to protect the environment and conserve natural resources for future generations. This is important because our planet is facing numerous environmental challenges, such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, and loss of biodiversity, and it is crucial to take action to address these issues.
There are some economic benefits: sustainability can also bring economic benefits, such as cost savings from using renewable energy and reducing waste, and creating new jobs in the growing green economy.
Social responsibility: isn’t it socially responsible to ensure people have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive - including clean water, protecting human rights, and supporting local communities. Granted, it's not all going to change instantaneously and being sustainable doesn't solve all problems, but it can make a giant leap forwards to help communities.
And our final thought, haven’t we got to consider future generations, let them have access to the same resources and opportunities that we enjoy today? For us, Lifelia coffins are part of an overall vision to build a sustainable culture.
